(MENAFN) Anti-counterfeit marketing program manager at Hewlett Packard (HP), Tina Rose, stated that as many as 1 million fake printer cartridges were seized by UAE authorities in April, reported Arabian Business.
The program manager at the US technology giant also said that the raid came as a part of the authorities largest counterfeit goods bust so far.
Rose added that the 1 million confistaced cartridges increased the number of seized products and components in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe to around 9 million since 2009.
It is worth noting that the International Chamber of Commerce warned that the global economic and social effects of counterfeiting and piracy will reach USD1.7 trillion in two years. It added that counterfeiting and piracy put 2.5 million jobs at risk every year.
