(MENAFN) Bahrain International Investment Park (BIIP), unveiled plans to create up to 6000 job opportunities by 2014, Trade Arabia reported.
The park provides international services such as information technology projects, back office services and headquarter premises, BIIP chief Bader Al Saad said.
Al Saad confirmed the approval of 83 projects including 15 this year. 36 of the approved projects are operational and 19 are under construction, he added.
The projects were approved under three main criteria; they must create value-added jobs for Bahrainis, they must be export-oriented and they must be environment friendly, Al Saad said.
Al Saad said that over 40 percent of the BIIP’s projects were foreign direct investment (FDI), adding that the park aims to boost manufacturing projects as well as supporting small and medium sized enterprises.
