(MENAFN) Statistics Center Abu Dhabi (SCAD) announced that last month’s consumer price inflation (CPI) rose by 1 percent from the same period a year before, reported Gulf News.
The growth was driven by an increase of 9.7 percent in the prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco group, a gain of 8 percent in restaurants and hotels and a rise of 3.9 percent in furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance.
Furthermore, transport prices went up 2.2 percent, and clothing and footwear prices grew 2.2 percent.
Meanwhile, prices of the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels group posted a 0.6-percent drop.
It is worth noting that on annual basis, Abu Dhabi’s inflation during the first quarter recorded a gain of 1.1 percent.
