(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi Airports Company’s (Adac) chief development officer, Haytham Haidar, said that work on the airport’s Midfield Terminal Building would be forecasted to begin in 2012’s second quarter, reported The National.
Haidar added that the establishment was part of a USD6.08 billion development and expansion plan for the capital’s airport.
He also said that the terminal, which would become home to Etihad Airways and the main gateway to Abu Dhabi, would have an annual capacity to host between 27 million to 30 million passengers.
It is worth noting that the terminal building was designed in the shape of an “X” and will include a luxury hotel and spa, whereas the central space could hold three full-sized football pitches and its ceiling reaches 52 meters at its highest point.
