(MENAFN) Emirates Aluminium’s (Emal) President and CEO, Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, stated that the firm has awarded USD500-million worth of contracts to GE, reported Emirates 24/7.
Al Mazrooei said that GE will be in charge of supplying equipment and long-term services, directly and through engineering procurement contractors, to Emal’s smelter complex in the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD) in Al Taweelah, Abu Dhabi.
He added that the project is projected to reduce emissions, which would allow the company to make aluminum with enhanced fuel efficiency.
The CEO noted that GE is supporting both Emal’s Phase 1 and 2 projects with advanced power generation technology, adding that GE will offer equipment upgrades to Phase 1 and will provide Phase 2 expansion project with gas and steam turbines, generators and a plant-wide control system.
It is worth noting that Emal, which serves over 150 customers worldwide, is a joint venture between Mubadala Development Co. and Dubai Aluminum.
