Abu Dhabi’s Jan inflation falls 0.3%

(MENAFN) Statistics Center Abu Dhabi (SCAD) said that last month, the emirate’s inflation fell 0.3 percent from the previous month, reported Emirates 24/7.

The agency added that food and non-alcoholic beverages recorded the largest fall in prices, with a decline of 1.6 percent, followed by prices of miscellaneous goods and services, which slipped by 1.5 percent.

It also said that compared with January 2011, prices of the clothing and footwear group went down by 4.5 percent, on the other hand, prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco recorded the largest rise, with 7.4 percent, followed by restaurants and hotels, which rose 6.9 percent, whereas education grew 4.8 percent and prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages were up 4.7 percent.

It is worth noting that average consumer prices in January 2012 grew 0.8 percent compared with January 2011.
