(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi’s non-oil merchandise trade rose 15.7 percent in the second quarter on-year to USD11.54 billion, said Statistics Centre-Abu Dhabi, or Scad, in its latest report.

The trade growth reflects an increase of USD462.73 million or 6.1 percent in non-oil imports, an increase of USD1.19 billion or 97.5 percent in non-oil exports, offset partially by a decrease of USD91.18 million in re-exports.

Non-oil imports, exports and re-exports contributed 68.9 percent, 21.1 percent and 10 percent, respectively, of total merchandise trade through Abu Dhabi Ports in the second quarter of 2015.

According the report SCAD, ‘machinery and transport equipment’ was the largest contributor to imports, representing 50.8 percent of the total. Its value increased by 10.7 percent to USD381.07 million.
