(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi National Energy Co (TAQA) stated that it has closed one of its rigs in the UK North Sea as it detected oil within a leg of the Cormorant Alpha platform, reported Arabian Business.
The company stressed that there was no environmental leak, and there was no gas release, furthermore, no incidents have been reported.
It added that the shutdown was taken as a precautionary measure.
It is worth noting that the platform, which has nearly 160 people on board, handles around 90,000 barrels of crude oil per day, of which 42,600 bpd are produced by TAQA.
