(MENAFN) Accor Middle East plans to open the first internationally recognized economy hotel brand “ibis” in Saudi Arabia this year, Arabian Business reported.
The European hotelier said it aims to run a network of 15-20 ibis hotels in the kingdom.
Accor will debut with a 176-room hotel in the capital Riyadh in December, followed by its 196-room ibis Yanbu in 2013, with a target to operate 17 ibis hotels by 2015.
It said Ibis Jeddah Malik Road and Adagio Jeddah Malik Road will open by 2014 and Novotel Jizan by 2015.
Accor is planning to open hotels in the Holy Cities of Makkah and Madinah where religious tourism is growing, as Makkah will receive over 10 million pilgrims annually, and this number is poised to grow further on improved local infrastructures.
Accor currently operates 12 hotels in the Gulf kingdom representing 3,346 rooms in six cities under the brands Sofitel, Pullman, Novotel and Mercure.
