(MENAFN) UK’s Taylor Woodrow International Construction’s operations director UAE, Simon Jewell, stated that the company has secured a contract to expand Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Terminal 3, reported Arabian Business.
Jewell said that the firm’s USD22.45 million joint venture with Abu Dhabi contractor Fibrex Construction Group will be in charge of upgrading the terminal to handle the growing number of passengers.
The contract, granted by Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), covers the addition of 2 new passenger buildings and a link bridge, with the project expected to be completed in 12 months.
He added that the first 6,015 sq m building, which is a bus-gates building, will accommodate 2,000 passengers and will act as a transfer facility between the terminal and remote aircraft parking positions.
Meanwhile, the second building will be home to the transfer passenger screening facilities.
It is worth noting that passenger traffic at Abu Dhabi International grew by 18.9 percent last year from 2011.
