Alitalia to add more routes to Asia after Etihad deal

(MENAFN) Alitalia, Etihad Airways’ latest equity deal , could expand its routes to include both Asia and South America, Gulf News reported.

The Italian airlines currently only flies to Japan in Asia but Etihad is expected to push it to increase its routes around the continent.

Under the new reconstruction plan, Alitalia is also expected to add to her widebody fleet by 32 percent with the addition of extra seven aircrafts to the company’s existing fleet of 22 planes.

Alitalia’s new Asian routes are expected to operate via Etihad’s Abu Dhabi hub thus giving its Italian passengers more choices due to Etihad”s network to the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Australia.
