Arab tourists’ trips to Maldives surge above 22%

17 Nov 2011

(MENAFN) The Maldives Tourism Board said that in spite of the effect of the global financial crisis, the number of Arab tourist trips to the country between 2009 and 2010 surged more than 22 percent, reported Arabian Business.

The board added that the number of Arab visitors to the Indian Ocean Islands would go up between 15 percent and 20 percent, which would enhance the need for mid-level properties in particular.

It also said that holidays to the Seychelles by Arab travelers also surged, where visits from the Arab Gulf countries by the end of September exceeded those recorded during the whole last year.

It is worth noting that the Indian Ocean Islands are located on the East of Africa, they include Comoros, Seychelles, Mauritius, Maldives and Madagascar.
