(MENAFN) Bahraini officials said that Bahrain’s jobless rate rose 16.7 percent in the second quarter of 2013, compared to the previous quarter, Gulf Daily News reported.
The total number of people classed as jobless in Bahrain at the end of June was 9,012, up from 7,718 at the end of March. Of those unemployed 1,640 were males and 7,372 were females.
Bahraini Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan put the rise down to a large number of university graduates entering the labour force at the end of the academic year, which coincides with the end of the second quarter,.
