(MENAFN) Bahrain’s government will allocate USD174 million for food subsidies this year, Gulf Daily News reported.
The subsidy, which covers meat, poultry and flour industries, is higher than last year’s USD145.8 million, the report said.
The paper also said that the government has allocated USD174.43 million to continue subsidizing these basic staples next year.
The Industry and Commerce Ministry, along with the Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs ministries will study the possibility of supporting local livestock farmers and submit a report in order to meet consumers’ needs in local meat and poultry at subsidized prices.
