(MENAFN) Aluminum Bahrain (Alba) is seeking financing options for its USD2.5 billion expansion plan to add a sixth production line, Reuters reported.
The operator of the world’s fourth largest smelter said the new line will add an annual 400,000 tons capacity to its current production of 881,000 tons a year.
A project feasibility study is expected to start at the end of the year, Alba said, expecting the project to be completed in 2015.
Alba’s last major expansion took place in 2005 when it added a fifth potline at a cost of USD1.7 billion.
