(MENAFN) Bahrain-based ship and rig repair yard Asry has opened a new department dedicated to military projects as part of its plan to acquire 60 percent of the regional naval market, according to Gulf Daily News.
The new Navy Defence and Industrial Projects (NDIP) Department is headed by Anthony Haile, formerly of the UK Royal Navy.
Asry, which has 45 percent share of the regional naval business, plans to expand its experience in the defence sector as a key differentiator from other regional yards.
Asry chief executive Nils Kristian Berge said: “Naval repair work requires a very specific skill set and unique standards, which we have built up over recent years.”
