(MENAFN) Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has identified two bidders for two major water projects in Sohar and Barka at Batinah coast with a total investment in the two ventures at USD550 million.
With Spanish (Valoriza Agua) and Japanese (Itochu Corporation) consortiums, the development of Independent Water Projects (IWPs) will be executed at Sohar and Barka respectively.
Valoriza Agua had teamed up with Oman Brunei Investment Company and Sogex Oman LLC in bidding for the two IPPs, while Itochu Corporation had Degremont, International Power (Dubai Branch) and W J Towell & Co LLC on their side.
OPWP chief executive officer (CEO) highlighted the importance of the two projects for a strategic aim to secure the Sultanate’s water needs.
