BP removing some workers from the Libyan capital

13 May 2013

(MENAFN) BP, the oil giant, stated that as a precautionary measure, the company is removing several workers from its Tripoli office due to an advice from the UK Foreign Office, reported Reuters.

The temporary move includes some non-essential and non-Libyan staff, however, the company, which has a limited presence in the North African country, didn’t reveal the accurate number of the affected staff.

In recent weeks, government buildings in the Libyan capital have been attacked by militias, and protests against the armed groups have ended in violence.

It is worth noting that due to the recent political upheaval, the UK Foreign Office was temporarily withdrawing some staff from its embassy in Tripoli.
