Britain, Norway initiates USD 2.9bn for Syria

04 Feb 2016

(MENAFN) Britain and Norway pledged to spend extra USD 2.9bn in help for Syrians by 2020, planning to build momentum for a donor conference that the UN hopes will raise more than USD 1bn.

Furthermore, U.N. agencies are attracting for USD 7.73bn to cope with the disaster this current year, with an additional USD 1.2bn to fund national plans.

Additionally, the conference will focus on the need to offer an education for displaced Syrian children and job chances for adults.

Improving the humanitarian situation in Syria and near countries will reduce incentives for Syrians to travel to Europe, where a huge crisis put many nations under severe stress.
