(MENAFN) Morocco”s spending on cereal products increased by 21.3 percent in the Jan-July period this year.
Furthermore, the bill hit 11.1bn dirhams in the cited period compared to 9.1bn dirhams in the same period of last year.
The increase is attributed to the growth in wheat and barley imports, up to 1.3bn dirhams and 0.8bn dirhams respectively.
However, the country cut the import duties for break wheat from 50 percent to 30 percent in order to ensure adequate supplies for the local market.
