China emerges as Algeria’s largest trade partner in Q1

(MENAFN) Official data show that China has emerged as Algeria’s largest supplier of goods in the first quarter of this year, Xinhua reported.

The National Center for Information and Statistics in the Algerian Customs department said that China’s exports to the country hit a total of USD1.87 billion.

China managed to overtake France’s place as the North African nation’s largest trade partner a decade after it entered the Algerian market.

France was Algeria’s second largest trade with total exports coming at USD1.67 billion in the three-month period. Italy came third with USD1.26 billion followed by Spain and Germany with USD1.21 billion and USD810 million, respectively.
