(MENAFN) South Sudan’s oil and mining minister, Stephen Dhieu Dau, said that China is to help develop the mining sector in the country, The Peninsula reported.
The minister said at a press conference with the Chinese ambassador that China is to provide USD43 million for a geological study to help South Sudan in giving mining licenses.
China will provide South Sudan with between USD1 billion and USD2 billion for infrastructure projects as well as agricultural projects.
South Sudan issued a new law to draw foreign investment to the sector, but that will require time as the country lacks infrastructure and geological study.
