Demand on power is to increase 7 pct in the Mena region

07 Sep 2013

(MenaFn) The Middle East and North Africa’s demand on power is expected to raise about 7 percent over the next decade, while investments in the power sector will cost USD283 billion during the next five years, according to Khaleej Times.

Kuwait Financial Centre reported that the Mena countries lack the infrastructure, political and economic stability, in addition to necessary technology.

A report by the center reported: “In addition, power sector in those countries is plagued with problems of transmission and distribution losses. These countries, therefore, intend to increase investments in the sector and to look at other alternative sources of power.”
