(MENAFN) Dubai’s Abraaj Group announced that it has sold its stake in Thailand’s Vejthani hospital to the South East Asian healthcare chain KPJ Healthcare, reported Arabian Business.
The private equity investor, which also exited an investment in Malaysian hospital operator IHH Healthcare Berhad in 2012, acquired the stake in 2009.
The company added that its investment in the Thai hospital managed to transform the facility to a multi specialist hospital with 22 specialty clinics, from a local general hospital with only 7 clinics.
Moreover, the hospital has recruited an additional 80 doctors and increased the qualification levels of its clinical staff.
It is worth noting that Abraaj Group has stakes in 9 hospitals around the world at the current time, including India, the Philippines, Kenya and Nigeria.
