(MENAFN) Dubai Airport Freezone’s director general, Dr Mohammad Al Zarouni, said that the number of new firms established in the free zone last year soared 110 percent from a year earlier to 202, reported Gulf News.
Al Zarouni added that growth in the general business sector surged 139 percent with 151 new firms, whereas aviation and electronics sectors recorded a growth of 13 percent.
Moreover, growth in the engineering and construction materials sectors exceeded 11 percent; whereas that in the freight industry reached 8 percent, furthermore, the services sector recorded a growth of 45 percent.
He also said that in terms of year-on-year growth, Indian firms establishing offices in the free zone ranked first with a rise of 150 percent.
It is worth noting that in terms of geography, the GCC represented the most active region, with a growth of 27 percent.
