(MENAFN) Dubai Airport reported an 18.9 percent increase in passenger traffic at its Dubai International Airport, the world’s second busiest airport in May, Arabian Business reported.
According to the airport operator’s data, some 5,218,832 passengers went through the airport last month, up from 4,388,614 a year ago.
This marked the sixth consecutive month the airport has recorded passenger numbers exceeding 5 million.
Dubai Airports also reported a 10 percent increase in aircraft movements to a total of 31,121 aircraft movements in May, compared to 28,304 a year earlier.
Average passengers per aircraft movement, an indicator of airport efficiency and fleet mix, grew by 4.9 percent, totaling 186 during the month compared the same month last year, driven by the increased numbers of Emirates airline A380s, Dubai Airports said.
As for the freight business, the report said it rose by 11.9 percent to 209,985 tonnes compared to 187,638 tonnes in May last year.
