(MENAFN) Dubai Civil Aviation Authority’s president, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum, announced that by the end of next year, the Al Maktoum International airport would open its passenger terminal, reported Arabian Business.
Shaikh Ahmed, who also chairs Dubai Airports, said that Dubai hopes to launch the terminal, which was originally scheduled to open in March 2011, before the next Air Show in the emirate.
The Al Maktoum International airport has a capacity to cater to 160 million passengers, as Dubai attempts to leverage its central location between continents as a hub for carriers.
It is worth noting that the airport, which is part of the Dubai World Central logistics complex, has started cargo operations before 2 years.
