(MENAFN) Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (Dewa) Managing Director and CEO, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, announced that the utility has inked a USD81.67 million deal to expand its transmission cable network, reported Emirates 24/7.
Al Tayer said that the project, which comprises 3 phases, is aimed at providing uninterrupted and stable electricity to meet the growing needs of the emirate.
He added that the first phase will include modifying loads in 132 kV electricity transmission networks between Al Quoz and D Station in Jebel Ali.
Meanwhile, the second phase comprises conveying cable loads between Bu Kadra station and the 400/132 kV substation at the Jebel Ali race course, while the third phase involves the extension of new 132 KV cables to transmit electricity to the network of Jebel Ali Port.
The CEO noted that the new cable network spans 274 km, whereas the scope of work covers supply, extension and linking to existing networks.
It is worth noting that the project, which is scheduled to be finished by December 2014, will also see the addition of voltage correction devices, master keys and Gas-Insulated Substations.
