(MENAFN) Dubai Municipality’s Building Department’s Acting Director, Eng. Yusuf Abdullah, announced that in 2012, the department approved the construction of 23,243 buildings, reported Emirates 24/7.
Abdullah said that of the total, 12,952 were permissions for private villas, 1,366 for commercial villas, 2,182 for industrial buildings, 2,227 facilities, 3,339 multistory buildings and 1,117 for floor additions.
Meanwhile, buildings under construction reached 11,723 and verification stood at 20,466.
He added that licensed deals were at 14,376, and violations reached 9,101 resulting in 989 penalties.
In 2012, the department demolished 197 sites, and inspected 98,891 sites in different areas of the city.
It is worth noting that the building department issued 2,421 completion certificates for implemented projects.
