(MENAFN) Dubai Airports’ chief executive, Paul Griffiths, stated that the number of passengers that passed Dubai International Airport last month grew 10 percent to 4.88 million passengers, reported Arabian Business.
Griffiths said that in November, cargo volume rose 4.4 percent from a year ago to 200,060 tons.
Furthermore, in the January-November period, passenger traffic jumped 13.1 percent, reaching 52.36 million, whereas freight volume went up by 3.6 percent to 2.08 million tons.
He added that early next year, the airport will open a new section to handle Airbus A380 superjumbo planes, which is expected to boost the facility’s capacity to 75 million passengers a year from 60 million.
It is worth noting that by the end of 2013, Dubai’s Al Maktoum International airport, which is designed to handle 160 million passengers, will start receiving passengers.
