Dubai Int’l passenger traffic up 5.7 percent in October

(MENAFN) Dubai International Airport said that it has registered an increase by 5.7 percent in its passenger traffic to reach 5.98 million people in October compared with the same month last year, Gulf News reported.

During the January-October period, passenger traffic at Dubai’s main airport registered an increase by 6.1 percent to reach 58.4 million people.

In terms of countries of origin of, the Indian subcontinent was the top market with a gain of 121.669 passengers, followed by Western Europe, Asia and Africa.

Meanwhile, freight volume dropped 6.2 percent in October to 195,824 tons as a result of freighter operations moving to Al Maktoum International, while the volume during the first 10 months of this year reached 1.95 million tons, decreasing by 2.2 percent

“We are on track to exceed 71 million passengers by year-end which is a remarkable number when you consider we lost the services of one or our runways for almost three months,” chief executive of Dubai Airports said in a statement.
