(MENAFN) OAG, the aviation intelligence firm, stated that in terms of annual seat capacity growth, Dubai International Airport became the world’s fastest growing airport, reported Arabian Business.
During the current month, 757,000 further seats will be available from the airport compared to 2012’s same period.
According to the OAG FACTS (Frequency and Capacity Trend Statistics) report, since 2004, the airport has raised capacity by an annual average of 12 percent.
The increase in capacity is mainly attributed to the ongoing growth reported by the emirate’s carrier, Emirates, which has added 9 new destinations over the past 12 months alone, that’s equal to around 22,000 more seats on daily basis.
It is worth noting that Dubai International became the second-busiest airport for passenger traffic, according to data provided by Airports Council International in March.
