(MENAFN) Dubai-based Anham has secured a USD8.1 billion contract to provide food to US troops serving in Afghanistan, Arabian Business reported.
The contract was landed on Anham to replace existing contractor Supreme Foodservice’s which is in a billing dispute with the Pentagon.
The present contract with Supreme Foodservice was inked in 2005, costing the US government nearly USD6.8 billion.
Payments to Supreme Foodservice have been reduced this year, as the Pentagon claimed that they have overpaid the supplier by USD750 million.
The 2005 contract expires in December. However, Supreme Foodservice has been awarded an interim bridge contract that ends a year later.
That means that Anham will not take over the contract until several months after that.
