Dubai’s date trade amounts to USD221.7m in 2016

(MENAFN) In 2016, Dubai”s total date trade amounted to USD221.7m, as exports accounted for the largest share at USD85.1m, followed by imports at USD72.1m and re-exports worth USD64.5m.
According to the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the emirates’ export share of total date trade stood at 38% last year.
However, UAE’s share of global exports was at 8.5%, USD96.3m in 2015, making it the fourth largest exporter of dates.
Accordingly, the top importing regions were Southeast Asia and the Middle East, also North Africa.
