Dubai’s DP World to expand presence in L America, Africa

25 Mar 2013

(MENAFN) DP World Chairman, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, announced that the port operator plans to expand presence in Latin America and Africa, reported Arabian Business.

Sulayem said that the company already has operations in several markets in the two regions; however, it’s in talks at the current time with other countries to launch operations there.

He noted that the third-biggest operator in the world, which operates over 60 terminals in 6 continents, doesn’t plan to expand into the US, due to high costs of investment in the country’s ports.

It is worth noting that DP World posted a 21-percent profit increase for 2012, to USD555 million from USD459 million in the previous year.
