Griffiths said that on a monthly basis, cargo volumes reached an average of 18,258 tons, up from 7,477 tons in the airport’s first full year of operations in 2011.

For 2012, aircraft movements surged 99 percent to 16,317, up from 8,198 a year before.

In the year, over 30 carriers operated into DWC, mostly as cargo charter operations, of which 15 were scheduled services.
