(MENAFN) According to data released by the Dubai Statistics Centre, the monthly consumer price index (CPI) in Dubai increase by 0.82 percent in August from a month ago.
The center attributed the rise in inflation to increase in prices of the transport group by 10.4 percent last month, the report release by Dubai Statistics Center showed.
Housing and utility costs, which account for almost 44 percent of consumer expenses, climbed 6.6 percent from a year earlier and edged up 0.2 percent from the previous month.
Meanwhile, food and beverage prices, which account for 11 percent of the basket, fell 0.1 percent and were down 2.4 percent month-on-month basis, the report added.
Housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel showed a rise of 0.19 percent. This group is the highest among the others in terms of the relative importance in the consumer basket.
