Dubai’s Q4 consumer confidence up 15 pts

(MENAFN) The Department of Economic Development (DED) said that in 2011’s fourth quarter, consumer confidence in Dubai grew 15 points to 125, compared with the previous quarter, reported Emirates 24/7.

The DED added that employees in the public sector had a more positive outlook regarding job prospects and personal finance, while two-third of consumers felt that the time was perfect to acquire things they wanted.

It also said that during the period, the number of consumers who said that the economy would get better over a period of a year surged by 22 percent from the third quarter, whereas 79 percent of consumers had a positive outlook on personal finance, and 70 percent said that the job situation would improve over the period.

It is worth noting that 41 percent of consumers have a tendency to spend on new clothes and on outdoor entertainment; on the other hand, the number of consumers spending on new products and technology rose by 13 percent compared to the third quarter.
