(MENAFN) Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing director-general, Helal Almarri, said that the emirate’s tourism sector is expected to bring in USD82 billion by the end of the decade, reported Reuters.
The Dubai government will focus on increasing the number of hotel rooms from 80,500 rooms to 160,000.
The number of tourists are expected to reach 20 million by 2020, attributed to its large retail industry and hospitality sector that contributed USD90 billion to the gross domestic product.
It is worth noting that plans have been made to expand Dubai international airport with a USD7.8 billion plan.
