(MENAFN) The Statistics Section at the Strategy and Corporate Excellence Department of Dubai Customs announced that during the first quarter, the emirate’s foreign trade of electronic items rose 8 percent, reported Khaleej Times.
Dubai’s trade of electronic items and their accessories grew to USD13.88 billion, from USD12.79 billion in 2011’s same period.
The emirate’s exports and re-exports of electronic items reached USD6.26 billion, up from USD5.44 billion in the same quarter a year ago, while imports reached USD7.62 billion, compared with USD7.34 billion.
It said that 34.4 percent of electronic exports were portable digital automatic data processing machines, followed by telephones for cellular networks and wireless networks in addition to ignition wiring sets used in vehicles.
It is worth noting that telephones for cellular networks and wireless networks represented 37 percent of technical imports, followed by portable digital automatic data processing machines and color terminal for receiving satellite broadcast.
