Egypt allocates USD6.5mn to establish solar energy projects

(MENAFN) Egypt Minister of Industries and Trade proclaimed that the ministry will launch a new solar energy project for industrial purposes amid the coming five years.

Additionally, the cost of the project will reach almost USD6.5mn, financed by the Global Environment Facility, to offer energy for the food, textile and other industries.

Accordingly, the project is part of the government’s plans to produce 20 percent of the country’s energy from renewable sources by the year 2020.

Meanwhile, the ministry is concerned with saving energy used by the industrial sector and making it more environmentally friendly to generate CO2 emissions.
