Egypt executes tariffs on Chinese, Turkish & Ukrainian steel

07 Jun 2017

(MENAFN) Egypt has imposed import charges on rebar steel from China, Turkey and Ukraine in order to protect regional manufacturers suffering from losses.

Furthermore, the tariff will be set at 17 percent for Chinese steel, 10-19 percent for Turkish steel and 15-27 percent for Ukrainian steel.

Additionally, the decision trailed an investigation that gathered complaints from regional producers failing to compete with imported alternatives.

The decision is intended to protect local manufacturing from harmful practices by imported substitutes and will remain valid for fourth months.
