Egypt plans to build nuclear power plants, looks to South Korea

10 May 2013

(MENAFN) Egypt and South Korea are to cooperate in nuclear plant technologies in order to keep up with Egypt’s massive energy demand, reported QNA.

South Korea will provide the means necessary to train staff and engineers to operate the nuclear plants.

Fears have risen over Egypt’s depleting gas reserves that is used in the generation of 72 percent of the country’s electricity.

It is worth noting that many designs have been proposed for building a nuclear plant, since as early as 1964. However, the country has been under pressure politically from progressing forward.
