Egypt raises gas cylinder price

01 Apr 2013

(MENAFN) Egypt’s Ministry of Supplies and Internal Trade announced that starting today, the price of butane gas will rise to USD1.175 for the 12.5 kg cylinder and to USD2.351 for the 25 kg cylinder, reported Xinhua News.

The increase takes into account costs of transportation, costs of repairing the gas cylinder vehicles, commission of storage stations’ owners, and salaries of the workers.

Formerly, the gas cylinder used to be sold at USD0.5143, however, as some governorates applied the system of home delivery, the gas cylinder price grew to USD0.8816.

It is worth noting that authorities will imprison anyone who violates the new price.
