Egypt reveals an initiative to recover tourism sector

(MENAFN) The Egyptian tourism minister, Mahmoud Shukri, said that the ministry is working to elevate the tourism sector, Saudi Gazette reported.

The ministry is cooperating with the Ministry of Civil Aviation affiliates to offer special discounts to draw tourists to the country.

The number of tourists has decreased to one million tourist visiting Egypt in August recording an 80 percent drop compared to the same period of last year, according to ministry figures.

Shukri said, “Internationally, the ministry is moving to reassure European countries on the security situation in the tourist areas, especially cities in southern Egypt, Hurghada, Aswan and the Red Sea, to persuade them to refrain from warning their citizens against travelling to Egypt.”
