(MENAFN) Vodafone Egypt and Etisalat have requested 4G mobile phone service licenses in the country.
Furthermore, the country is selling 4G licenses as part of a long-awaited plan to reform the telecoms sector and raise money for government finances.
Meanwhile, Orange Egypt signed a license agreement, paying USD484mn and receiving 10 megahertz of spectrum instead of the 7.5 initially on offer.
On the other hand, Telecom Egypt was the only firm to take up the original offer, buying a 4G license for USD797mn to enter the mobile market for the first time.
