06 May 2013

(MENAFN) Nielsen’s Global Survey of Consumer Confidence and Spending Intentions revealed that consumer sentiment in Egypt fell by 20 points in the first quarter from 2012’s last quarter, reported Arabian Business.

The figure shows that the North African country recorded the largest decrease in the period in the Arab world.

Meanwhile, consumer confidence in Saudi Arabia, the largest economy amongst Arab countries, also declined, by 17 points, while that in the UAE dropped by 5 index points to 108.

Nevertheless, the country maintained its position as the most confident in the Middle East region, and its score was higher by 15 points than the global average.

It is worth noting that the Nielsen index gauges consumer confidence, major concerns, and spending intentions among over 29,000 respondents in 58 countries.
