Egypt’s banknote issuance to GDP grows by 12.68pct

(MENAFN) The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) proclaimed that the banknote issuance to GDP increased to 12.68 percent in Feb this year, posting its highest level since June 2016.

Accordingly, the whole value of banknotes pumped reached EGP411.559bn in Feb, compared to EGP405.416bn in Jan, a jump of EGP6.143bn.

Meanwhile, the bank issued EGP226.125bn worth of EGP200 notes, EGP144.943bn worth of EGP100 notes and EGP27.857bn worth of EGP50 notes.

In addition, the CBE also issued EGP5.45bn in EGP20 notes; EGP3.015bn in EGP10 notes; EGP2.432bn in EGP5 notes and others.
