(MENAFN) Electricity load in Dubai increased to 6.85 Mega Watt in the current year comparing with 6.637 Mega Watt in the previous year, reported Dewa, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, according to Emirates 24/7.
Water consumption reached 285 million imperial gallons per day this year compared to 295.5 million imperial gallons per day last year.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), commented: “We seek to support the vision and strategic plans of the Government of Dubai to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development in the emirate of Dubai and promote its position as a global hub for finance, business and tourism.”
Al Tayer added: “This increase in the peak load is a testimony to the boost of social and economic activities in Dubai. Led by its vision to become a sustainable world-class utility, Dewa is making a real contribution to Dubai”s social, economic and environmental development by securing uninterrupted and stable supplies of electricity and water to realize Dubai”s vision.”
