(MENAFN) Emirates Airline stated that its has picked Khansaheb Civil Engineering to establish the carrier’s USD100 million repair facility, reported Arabian Business.
Emirates executive vice president, Chairman’s Office, Facilities, Construction & Design, Procurement Management and Procurement & Logistics Non Aircraft, Ali Mubarak Al Sorri, said that the facility, Emirates Engine Overhaul Shop, which will be operational in 2014’s second quarter, will repair the GE90 and GP7200 engines.
The 225,000 sq ft facility will provide the maintenance capabilities required to guarantee continual safe operation of the engines powering the airline’s fleet of around 150 Boeing 777s and Airbus 380s.
On annual basis, the facility, which is managed by General Electric International (GE) and designed by US Burns and McDonnell Corp, will provide maintenance to 300 engines; moreover, it will create 500 new engine maintenance jobs.
